PC performance

  • Reduced CPU usage in several spots: high CPU throughout startup, periodic audio processing during matches, and unnecessary audio-input polling that could cause sudden frame drops.
  • Fixed frame-rate drops tied to certain display resolutions.
  • Added a shader warm-up prompt at startup to reduce first-session stutter.
  • Improved automatic spec detection so the auto graphics-quality setting fits your hardware better.

Bug fixes

  • Battle Settings and Team Building customisation items and colours no longer revert to default after a restart.
  • Fixed an Online Lobby attack-button icon issue that could make mini-games unresponsive.

Our read

What this patch actually means

This is the game's second PC-performance pass in four days, and like the day-one patch it is aimed squarely at the launch complaints — startup stutter, CPU spikes and resolution-linked frame drops — rather than balance. If you bounced off Tokon's rough Steam launch, this is the update to reinstall and re-test: the shader warm-up plus the CPU fixes target the exact stutter people were reporting.

The headline fix is easy to miss in a dry change list: the game had been repeatedly checking for available audio devices during matches, and those unnecessary polls were causing the periodic frame-time spikes plenty of players felt as a stutter 'once a second' regardless of GPU. Removing that check is why 8/10 feels smoother than the notes suggest — it targets a root cause the day-one patch left in place, which is the single most useful thing to know if you tested on launch day and still hitched.

Two performance patches in four days also says something about how Arc System Works is treating the launch window: fast, stability-first, and titled by date rather than a version number. What is still missing is a balance pass — no fighter has been buffed or nerfed yet, and the first one is widely expected only once tournament data accumulates.

For competitive players there is nothing to relearn here — no fighter was touched, so our tier list and every character guide are unaffected by this patch. Treat 8/10 as a quality-of-life and stability update, not a meta event.
