Marvel Tokon PC Performance Fix

MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls launched rough on PC — but two official patches have already fixed most of the stutter, CPU spikes and frame drops. Here’s what to update, the settings that actually help, and the problems still unsolved.

Start here — this fixes it for most people

The launch build ran badly, but two official patches (Aug 6 and Aug 10) already fixed most of the stutter, CPU spikes and frame drops. Before you change any settings, do these two things:

  1. Update to the latest version. Most launch-week stutter and crashes are already patched — a big share of "fix" guides online are just telling you to install updates you may already have.
  2. Run the shader warm-up. Accept the warm-up prompt on startup (or run it from Graphics Settings) and let it finish before playing. It pre-compiles shaders so the game doesn’t stutter while compiling them in your first matches.

What the two official patches fixed

You don’t need to do any of this yourself — it ships in the updates. It’s here so you can tell what’s solved from what still needs a workaround. Full notes are in our patch archive.

Day-one patchAugust 6, 2026
  • Cut CPU load by removing unnecessary character-animation updates
  • Eased the load from user-interface updates
  • Fixed the slowdown that hit when overlay or capture apps (OBS, Discord) were running
  • Stopped upscalers (DLSS, FSR, XeSS) from switching on unintentionally
  • Turned shader warm-up on by default to cut first-match stutter
  • Fixed online input delay on the Steam version
  • Fixed a crash from moving the mouse too fast in menus
  • Fixed the performance drop when large amounts of text were on screen
  • Reduced overall CPU use, including the CPU staying maxed out through startup
  • Fixed the sudden frame drops caused by the game repeatedly checking audio devices mid-match — the single most-reported cause of the once-a-second stutter
  • Fixed frame drops at certain resolutions
  • Re-added the shader warm-up prompt after updating
  • Improved automatic graphics-quality detection for your system
  • Fixed battle and team-building settings resetting to default on restart

Advanced fixes worth trying

These are community and developer-surfaced steps, each with its source and how confident it is. Try them only if you’ve already updated and run the warm-up.

Turn off overlays and capture software

Disable the Discord, Steam and Xbox Game Bar overlays, and close OBS or any recording app before you launch.

The day-one patch specifically fixed a slowdown caused by overlay and capture apps — so this game has a confirmed overlay conflict. Turning them off clears any residual hit.

Cap to 60 FPS externally with RTSS “Front Edge Sync”

In RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS), open the Marvel Tokon profile → Setup → change the sync mode from “Async” to “Front Edge Sync”, set a 60 FPS limit, and turn the in-game FPS cap off.

Players report the built-in frame limiter causes a frametime spike roughly once a second, even on high-end GPUs. An external Front Edge Sync cap smooths it where the in-game cap, Reflex and back-edge sync don’t.

Fix online lag: match same-platform only

In matchmaking → Matching Settings, set “Match Platform” to “Same Platform Only”.

A constantly frame-dropping opponent degrades the rollback netcode. Since the PC build was unstable at launch, matching only your own platform gives steadier online play. Trade-off: longer queues.

Anti-cheat error on boot? Reset the EAC setup folder

In the game’s install folder, delete the “eos_eac_setup” folder, then relaunch — the game re-runs its anti-cheat setup.

Known issues not fixed yet

Linux & Steam Deck players: as of August 11, 2026, the game is hard-blocked by anti-cheat — there is no working fix, only dual-booting Windows. Details below.

Linux / SteamOS / Steam Deck won’t launch

Easy Anti-Cheat isn’t enabled for Proton, so the game is hard-blocked on Linux and Steam Deck (“No anti-cheat module has been found”). There is no player-side fix right now — the only workaround is dual-booting Windows.

GamingOnLinux

Forced PSN login and region lock

Every version needs a PlayStation Network account, and the game isn’t sold in countries without PSN. Not a performance bug, but a common wall on the first launch.

PC Gamer

Locked at 60 FPS — don’t force-uncap it

The game caps at 60 FPS and ties game logic to the framerate. Forcing a higher cap with external tools can break game speed, so keep any limiter at 60.

Is your PC actually up to spec?

If it still runs badly after all of the above, the issue may be your hardware rather than the game. Check your rig against the official minimum and recommended requirements before spending more time on settings.

PC performance FAQ

How do I fix stutter in Marvel Tokon on PC?

Update to the latest version first — the August 6 and August 10 patches fixed the main causes, including a once-a-second stutter from repeated audio-device checks. Then run the shader warm-up before playing. If it still stutters, cap to 60 FPS externally with RTSS Front Edge Sync and turn off overlay and capture apps.

Why does Marvel Tokon crash or run badly on PC?

The launch build had high CPU load, shader-compilation stutter and an overlay conflict, all addressed by the two official patches. Make sure you have updated, run the shader warm-up, and disable capture and overlay software before launching.

Can I play Marvel Tokon on Steam Deck or Linux?

Not currently. Easy Anti-Cheat isn’t enabled for Proton, so the game is hard-blocked on Linux and Steam Deck. The only workaround is dual-booting Windows.
